Web Design Business Opens
The Sarnia Observer
July 28, 2003

A new web design business, RedChair, is offering both functionality and design.

The business is operated by Matthew Mullen from his home in Corunna.

"RedChair will offer a wide range of services to potential clients," said Mullen. "RedChair offers web design, hosting, domain name registration, online databases, wireless applications and e-commerce. In addition, online polls and newsletters are also available."

What separates RedChair from other web design businesses is the emphasis on both functionality and design, according to Mullen.

"Design and functionality must go hand in hand when creating a web site. If there is one without the other, people may not visit your web site as much as you want them to," said Mullen.

The key component for RedChair is Macromedia's Flash MX.

"There is so much that can be done with Flash to make a web site interactive and that is very appealing to users," he said.

Designing web sites has always been a passion for Mullen, who designed his first site in 1997. He is a certified web designer who graduated from Seneca College's Webmaster-Content course, and wrote his business plan with the help of Sarnia's Business Planning Club.

"Web design combines everything I've always wanted in a career: helping people, creativity and working with technology," he said.
